Were seeking an experienced paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our small but mighty Family Law team.
This Opportunity:
We paused filling this role while we geared up for a big change in our file management systems, but with a new baby about to join the team (via parental leave) and some bumps in our Clio rollout, were charging ahead now. So if you have Clio experience, thats a definite plus! If not, you'll be learning alongside us.
We need a legal professional who knows how to run family law files from start through trial or to finish (if there ever really is a finish) and who actively looks for ways to move them forward rather than sitting on the sidelines. We want someone who takes an active role on files and helps refine our systems, not just follow a checklist. Youll take ownership, keep momentum without waiting for every instruction, and spot opportunities to make our processes even better. Were always evolving how we work so we can be smarter, faster, and consistently deliver excellent service.
Youll work closely with a team of exceptional professionals, including 4-ish Family lawyers. Depending on your experience and growth goals, you might support our Civil Team as well as Family, or stay exclusively in Family. Our Family lawyers also flex into other areas from time to time, so were open to crafting the right mix.
If you thrive on efficiency, love systems, and hate being held back, this is your chance to bring your experience and help level up an already great team. Fluency in Punjabi is also an asset as we work to provide top-tier service to our diverse community.
Our Firm:
We are well-established in the Fraser Valley, having operated from the same building in Abbotsford since 1971 (which we now own) and expanding to a second office in Langley in 2023. As a full-service firm, we have proudly supported multiple generations of families, homeowners, businesses and Fraser Valley residents with all their legal needs for over 50 years.
At our firm, we believe in the importance of flexibility, and our partners are committed to an open-minded approachfocusing on possibilities rather than defaulting to no or 'we've always done it way X'. We trust our team to meet their professional obligations and offer flexibility in how and where they work. To be successful in this role, we anticipate you'll be in-office the majority of the time, with hybrid Abbotsford/Langley/work-from-home options available. This would typically be after successfully completing probation, so you can get familiar with our systems and team.
