VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE ASUS Equity Workshop Series (AEWS)
Applications extended until August 31st at 4:00 PM EST

The ASUS Equity Workshop Series (AEWS) is committed to educating members of the Queen's and Kingston communities on issues of social justice, equity, accountability, and inclusivity. Through keynote speakers, student-led discussions, and engaging activities, we aim to foster dialogue, deepen understanding, and inspire action toward creating a safer and more respectful social climate.

We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles for the 20252026 term (SeptemberApril). All positions require an average commitment of 23 hours per week.

Marketing Team Graphic Designer

Do you love creating engaging visuals and want to showcase your graphic design skills? AEWS is the perfect platform for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Design graphics for social media, newsletters, and event promotion

  • Collaborate on special designs with speakers and team members

  • Help develop a cohesive and creative visual identity for AEWS

Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively

  • Willingness to collaborate and receive feedback

  • Creativity and attention to detail

  • Experience with Canva and/or Photoshop is an asset, but not required

Marketing Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute outreach strategies across platforms like Instagram

  • Write engaging captions and assist with story takeovers and other content

  • Drive event turnout and awareness through accessible and inclusive messaging

  • Ensure workshops reach students from a wide range of communities at Queen's

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Interest in inclusive, equity-focused marketing

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Experience with social media tools (e.g. Instagram, Canva) is an asset but not required

Newsletter Coordinator

Are you passionate about communication and community engagement? The newsletter role is a great opportunity to develop your writing and design skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and format monthly newsletters featuring event updates, speaker highlights, and educational content

  • Coordinate with the marketing and outreach teams to ensure timely and relevant messaging

  • Track newsletter engagement and explore ways to improve reach

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented

  • Familiarity with layout design tools such as Canva or Mailchimp is an asset

Sponsorship Coordinator

This role is ideal for someone interested in building community relationships and developing outreach experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and reach out to potential sponsors within Queen's, Kingston, and surrounding communities

  • Draft sponsorship proposals and manage agreements

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with confirmed sponsors

Qualifications:

  • Professional and confident communication skills

  • Organized and proactive in outreach

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively

Speaker Outreach Coordinator

Interested in community engagement and event planning? Help us shape our speaker lineup and lead outreach efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact and coordinate with potential speakers across Queen's and Kingston

  • Curate a diverse and impactful speaker schedule

  • Serve as the point of contact for confirmed speakers, managing logistics and communications

Qualifications:

  • Professional communication skills with strong follow-up

  • Experience or interest in outreach and networking

  • Collaborative and flexible approach

First-Year Representative

An excellent opportunity for first-year students looking to get involved in equity-focused work and gain leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the AEWS team with various initiatives and event execution

  • Assist in brainstorming, planning, and administrative tasks

  • Learn how ASUS committees operate and contribute to equity programming

Qualifications:

  • Open-minded and willing to learn

  • Able to communicate clearly and work well in a team

  • Enthusiastic and reliable
