Job Title: Heavy Truck and Equipment Operator
We are seeking experienced Heavy Truck and Equipment Operator to join our team at the Eskay Creek Site. Reporting to the Site Maintenance Supervisor, or their designate from time to time, the successful candidate will be responsible for transporting liquids, including water, wastewater, and other materials, using specialized pumper trucks alongside other heavy equipment for construction and quarrying This position requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication with team members and supervisors, and the ability to conduct routine inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Vehicle and Equipment Operation
- Operate vac and water trucks to transport liquids including, but not limited to, water, wastewater, and other materials, following designated routes and schedules for pickups and deliveries.
- Operate heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, skid steers, zoom booms, and forklifts.
- Conduct routine inspections and checks on the pumper truck to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Safety and Compliance
- Uphold and embody Skeena Gold + Silver's safety standards.
- Adhere to all safety standards, regulations, and rules as applicable.
- Attend and participate in pre-shift safety meetings.
- Participate in any site-specific training.
Administrative and Reporting Tasks
- Complete shift paperwork as required, including FLHAs, JHAs, equipment inspection sheets, and load sheets.
Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and address any issues that may arise.
Other Duties
- All other duties as reasonably assigned by the Employer.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Driver's License with Air Brakes Endorsement (Class 1 or 3 license is required)
Experience/Skills:
- 2+ years minimum experience as a Heavy Truck/Heavy Equipment Operator or related field.
- Strong commitment to promoting and maintaining good Health and Safety Culture Experience or demonstrated capability to work in a complex environment.
- Experience and familiarity working in the mining or natural resources industry, at remote sites, or industrial/constructions sites.
- Must have Hepatitis A & B (Twinrix), Tetanus (Td), and Typhoid shots.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, remote site environment.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed.
Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
Compensation
The expected hourly range for this position is CA$40/h - CA$50/hour, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
