Job Title: Electrical Area Lead

Reporting to the Director, Construction, the Electrical Area Lead will be responsible for leading and overseeing the successful execution of electrical and instrumentation work involved in the construction of the Eskay Creek Project. This role will specifically focus on electrical and instrumentation scopes, such as power distribution, controls, and instrumentation.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Construction Planning & Coordination

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate the safe execution of E&I construction activities in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and specifications.
  • Ensure electrical designs and installations align with the project's specifications, standards, and codes, including Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and any site-specific requirements.
  • Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems, ensuring high-quality work.
  • Review and approve electrical drawings, material specifications, and equipment selections, collaborating with the design team and suppliers.
  • Coordinate and oversee the commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring all installations are tested and operate as required after handover to operations.
  • Ensure the electrical systems meet all performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, conducting inspections and troubleshooting as necessary.

Quality Assurance Oversight

  • Monitor quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) compliance for all E&I works.

Team Leadership

  • Lead contractors and direct labor involved in electrical and instrumentation installation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Interface with engineering, procurement, project controls, and other company functions to ensure work is executed efficiently, safely, and within cost and schedule guidance.

Progress & Resource Management

  • Manage and document progress, productivity, and resource allocation.

Meeting Participation & Coordination

  • Participate in regular planning, safety, and coordination meetings.

Mentorship & Workforce Development

  • Mentor and support junior staff and promote workforce development on site.
The Ideal Candidate Education / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work in Canada; willingness to work in a remote camp environment on a rotational schedule.
Experience / Skills
  • Minimum 15 years of construction experience, preferably in mining projects in the construction phase, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, schedules, and budgets in remote and logistically challenging environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others

Work Location and Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation The expected salary range for this position is CA$150,000 - CA$225,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
