About the opportunity:

To meet the needs of our constantly evolving clientele, Best Way Stone is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality and Processing Engineer to join our Uxbridge Production team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting quality assurance initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across operations. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with production, maintenance, and quality teams to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain product quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related field)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment optimizing production processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to design plant layouts and improve workflow using tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Proven experience in identifying bottlenecks, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing Lean or Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing of raw materials (e.g., concrete aggregates, cement, sand) and finished concrete products.
  • Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, or CCIL quality standards in a construction or materials-based industry.
  • Conducting compressive, flexural, absorption, and density tests using calibrated lab equipment
  • Practical experience using production or lab data to evaluate process reliability, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Proficiency with data tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, Tableau, or ERP systems) to track KPIs, production metrics, and quality compliance
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and product quality
  • Conduct product and raw material testing (e.g., compressive strength, absorption, density) to ensure compliance with CSA/CCIL/ASTM standards
  • Conduct time-studies and implement work simplification and lean manufacturing programs
  • Plan and revise plant layouts using AutoCAD or similar tools to support operational needs
  • Monitor and analyze data from quality lab tests and production metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff and oversee Engineering Co-op student placements
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs and flow diagrams
  • Identify process bottlenecks and develop solutions to enhance throughput and reduce waste
  • Participate in weekly Quality Assurance meetings and support company-wide continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with technical quoting and calculations for the Sales team (e.g., SRW calculations)
  • Support health and safety standards and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned
