We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team and play a critical role in shaping the future of our business while honouring our legacy.

Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and driving cost efficiencies. This role is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills who thrives in a hands-on environment and is eager to make a significant impact on a family-oriented, community-focused business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of four direct reports and other indirect reports, providing guidance and support in day-to-day operations.
  • Full Cycle Accounting: Oversee the entire accounting operations ensuring accuracy and finding efficiencies. Current system still includes paper processes, the Sr. Accountant will need to first learn existing processes and then transition to excel and other accounting systems.
  • Inventory Management: Tighten inventory processes and improve cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking and control.
  • Financial Leadership: Manage bank and credit card reconciliations, audit responsibilities, manual checks, and year-end financial processes.
  • Expense Management: Identify and implement cost-saving measures across areas such as phones, alarms, and IT systems.
  • Cash Conversion Cycle: Optimize the cash conversion cycle to improve financial efficiency.
  • Project Accounting: Apply costing and project accounting expertise to support building and construction operations.
  • Business Transformation: Evaluate current systems and processes, recommending and implementing IT upgrades to enhance efficiency.
  • Trust & Relationships: Build strong relationships with ownership and team members, ensuring alignment with the company's culture and goals.
  • Advisory Role: Interpret financial data to guide decision-making and advise on accounting matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and family business dynamics.
