BASIC FUNCTION
The basic function of the Estimator is to meet mutually established sales goals by securing new projects including estimating, the tender process and contract agreements. Once secured, the Estimator is responsible for the complete and proper hand off process to the assigned Project Manager in order to ultimately ensure success of the project.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
· Post-secondary education in technical engineering, design, project management, or similar
EXPERIENCE
· 5 - 10 years in business development, sales, estimating and/or some project management in metal fabrication or construction industry preferably with a $5M+ revenue company
· Experience in estimating with laser cutting and other CNC manufacturing equipment is an asset
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
· Strong communication skills: ability to communicate and interact with clients, vendors/subcontractors and internal people at all levels
· Mental ability and cognitive skills to formulate business math formulas, and estimating formats and to interpret and analyze data provided on drawings, spreadsheets, and computer
· Strong planning and organizational skills with a good eye for detail
· Ability to effectively manage, coordinate and meet deadlines
· Self-starter and ability to work the entire sales-estimating-follow up cycle with minimal supervision
· Superior sales skills, ability to influence the client by demonstrating the superior value of bids provided
· Aptitude and skills to seek out leads, make cold calls and turn opportunities into orders
· Ability to read and interpret architectural construction drawings and shop fabrication drawings
· Ability to communicate effectively through sketches and free-hand drawings detailing accurate information
· Ability to determine and communicate best fabrication methods to complete an estimate
· Ability to read and interpret job cost reports
· Must be fully computer capable: able to utilize Microsoft Office and software for job cost programs and internet searches
· Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and the use of a reliable vehicle. Willing to use personal vehicle for work purposes ensuring adequate personal vehicle insurance coverage stating the vehicle is to be used for work purposes.

· Excellent knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the business
· Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
