Dream is looking for a Cost Control Coordinator

Dream's Development team is currently looking for a Cost Control Coordinator responsible for performing all development cost control functions in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner. You will assist with the preparation performance reports and budgets in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure that all costs are properly recorded and collected for development projects.

Who are you?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role:

  • Support development team in procuring consultants including assembling of scopes, administration/ correspondence with consultants, tabulation and leveling of proposals.
  • Maintaining of historical cost information to assist in the evaluation of bids.
  • Analysis of change orders and recommendations of scope/ procurement documents improvements.
  • Create consultant contracts, purchase orders and change orders within the accounting/development systems using cost codes consistent with project budgets while complying to project specific workflows;
  • Update and maintain project contract and change order records;
  • Review invoices, progress billing, collect missing or supporting backup from vendors/ internal team, and facilitate approvals for payment processing in accordance with the Construction Prompt Payment Act;
  • Daily processing of accounts payable invoices, mailing/couriering cheques as needed and filing paid invoices promptly and accurately;
  • Manage documentation flow for trade account reconciliations and conduct periodic reconciliations for vendor progress billing, hold backs and job costs on an ongoing basis;

  • Generate variance, cost-to-complete, project performance reports for Project Managers/Development Leads;
  • Participate in quarterly project cost/contract review meetings;
  • Prepare project related accrual reports for the Accounting department to support monthly draws and various financial reporting;
  • Assist as required with the preparation of costs to complete quarterly budgets; and
  • Provide ad-hoc administration support to the Development Team as required.

What type of experience do you have?

These are some of the things we would like you to bring to the table:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in an administrative role within real estate or development.
  • Educational background in Administration, Project Management, or related field.
  • Previous experience with processing invoices and payables.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to work effectively independently or with the team.
  • Working knowledge of MS Projects, Procore or other project management tools required;
  • Able to work well with Microsoft Office business applications is required. Experience with JD Edwards is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts and accounting practices, including budget tracking and control;
