Search Mandate: Yorktown Search Partners is conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a private investment platform focused on co-investments, direct transactions, and fund partnerships across North America and select global markets.

Role Overview

Yorktown Search Partners has been retained to identify a visionary, execution-oriented Head of Strategic Partnerships & Capital Raising for a confidential client building a differentiated investment platform. The firm specializes in structured co-investments, merchant banking mandates, and strategic capital placements with LPs, family offices, and boutique funds.

This is a senior-level leadership role for an experienced capital formation executive with a deep network across the allocator landscape. The successful candidate will lead global fundraising strategy, build long-term investor partnerships, and help shape the platforms capital architecture across mandates and vehicles.

Compensation is structured as a market-driven deferred salary, supplemented by performance-linked incentives and meaningful equity participation, ensuring alignment with the long-term success of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Formation Strategy

  • Design and lead capital raising campaigns for direct investments, fund strategies, and co-investment vehicles
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with LPs, HNWIs, family offices, fund-of-funds, and strategic institutional partners
  • Craft capital formation playbooks that align with transaction timing, sector focus, and liquidity profiles

Investor Relationship Management

  • Serve as the lead relationship manager for capital partners, ensuring timely communication and high-touch engagement
  • Develop and oversee investor communications, pitch decks, webinars, and newsletters
  • Curate and host LP roundtables, capital formation forums, and private investor events

Fundraising Operations

  • Lead preparation of fundraising materials including DDQs, CIMs, term sheets, data rooms, and investor reporting packages
  • Coordinate across legal, compliance, and finance to ensure smooth execution and regulatory readiness
  • Track pipeline metrics and investor engagement performance through CRM tools and dashboards

Syndication & Placement Partnerships

  • Manage syndication efforts with placement agents, third-party marketers, and investment platforms
  • Structure and negotiate placement agreements, performance economics, and co-branded campaigns
  • Ensure that messaging, materials, and positioning remain premium, strategic, and investor-aligned

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of experience in investor relations, fundraising, or capital markets within a private equity, venture, or alternatives firm
  • Deep knowledge of the LP landscape across North America, Europe, and emerging markets
  • Proven ability to close multimillion-dollar fundraising campaigns and manage end-to-end capital relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a polished, institutional presentation style
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with high accountability, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in lean teams
  • Familiarity with private placements, co-investments, fund structuring, and digital capital formation platforms

Ideal First Hire

The Head of Strategic Partnerships will be expected to build and manage a lean capital formation team, beginning with an Investor Relations Associate-preferably someone with direct experience in allocator engagement, LP servicing, or capital support roles at a fund manager or placement firm.

Compensation & Alignment

This is a senior executive position with compensation fully aligned to performance and long-term value creation. The package includes a market-driven deferred salary, equity participation, and performance-based incentives. The role is structured to reward successful capital formation, relationship depth, and strategic fundraising impact across the firms investment ecosystem.
