Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Prep Supervisor to lead our prep team in ensuring all materials, tools, and equipment are accurately prepared and ready for use in the production department. This hands-on role involves supervising the prep team, coordinating schedules, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the smooth operation of our greenhouse production flow.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and supervise the prep team by assigning daily tasks and supporting their work to meet production goals
- Organize, label, and stage production materials such as pots, tags, and UPCs in advance to keep production running smoothly
- Prepare and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring everything is available and in good working order before production starts
- Inspect prep work regularly to confirm accuracy, completeness, and quality standards are met
- Track inventory levels of prep materials and supplies, and promptly report shortages or discrepancies to the Production Manager
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by promoting and enforcing workplace safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Provide hands-on training and ongoing support to new and existing prep team members to build skills and efficiency
- Communicate clearly and regularly with the Production Manager and other departments to coordinate schedules and address any issues
- Adapt to changing production demands and offer support in other production areas when necessary, especially during peak or high-volume periods
- Be prepared to work flexible hours, including extended shifts during busy seasons, to ensure production targets are met
What You Bring:
- Experience in greenhouse, production, or manufacturing environments
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, humid greenhouse setting
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet
- CSA-approved steel toe shoes required
- Basic computer skills; inventory experience is a plus
- Spanish language skills are an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education is a bonus)
- Flexibility for extended hours during peak seasons
