Our Manager, Investment Programs & Business Performance will work closely with the Director, Tourism Investment & Commercial Partnerships, Vice President Commercial & Destination Development and Chief Commercial Officer in their day-to-day capacity and responsible for managing:
Travel Alberta's aviation fund to grow direct air capacity into the province through targeted investment with select air carriers.
Travel Alberta's investment funds to accelerate private sector investment to grow supply of accommodations, experiences, transportation solutions and tourism communities.
The performance reporting of the entire destination development unit including the measurement framework (unit scorecard), measure design, performance reporting and governance.
Leveraging their experience in managing the life-cycle of large-scale grant programs with government organizations, this position is core to Travel Alberta's ability to report on return of investment to shareholder and elevate our commercial acumen.
Strategic Accountabilities:
Management of Industry Investment Programs (50%)
Lead the evaluation of Travel Alberta industry and aviation investment programs including investment recommendations, analysis, and investment performance (30%)
Lead the measurement, monitoring and reporting of business unit performance (20%)
Strategic Project Management of Industry Investment Program:
Supports the operations, results reporting, and insights and governance of Travel Alberta's industry investment grant programs.
Develops grant program materials including evaluation forms, templates, external communications, etc.
Propose recommendations on investment strategies, protocols and processes for each program to optimize them each year.
Records management of the programs, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data as well as required public grant disclosures.
Design and implement performance management systems to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs and ensure they meet Travel Alberta's goals and the needs of operators.
Report of performance and insights to the Chief Commercial Officer for multiple audiences including industry committees, board, and shareholders.
Works with other business areas including finance and procurement to advance program.
Reporting and Performance of the Aviation Investment Program:Responsible for the performance reporting and investment strategies for Travel Alberta's aviation investment strategy.
Work with 3rd party vendor to assess airline investment program proposals.
Support airline partners in meeting reporting requirements,
Track and report on the performance of investments for the board, shareholders, and stakeholders.
Report performance and insights to the Chief Commercial Officer for multiple audiences including industry committees, board, and shareholder.
Builds and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to further advance key initiatives and form strategic partnerships for success.
Performance Reporting for the Unit:Works with the senior leadership of the Destination Development Team to contribute to the design of the annual department/unit scorecard.
Supports the identification, collection, assembly, and reporting of team unit results as reported in quarterly business reviews, mid-year and annual reports, board reports, and on an ad-hoc basis as required.
Responsible for special projects and other duties as assigned by the Chief Commercial Officer and Director, Industry Investments & Commercial Partnerships.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in commerce, business administration or relevant field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 5+ years of direct experience working in the public sector with responsibilities developing and reporting on, grant/investment programs or corporate investment projects for managing multiple grant programs funded at over $5M.
Significant experience leading projects and engaging with multiple internal business teams and third-party vendors to fulfill organizational needs.
Experience using a grant management tool and other tools such as survey tools, forms, CRMs, etc. to support business operations and evaluation.
High level of proficiency in using Excel for complex data analysis, including the ability to create and interpret pivot tables, charts, and graphs to visualize data trends and insights.
Capable of operating in dual modes in the same day and are completely comfortable splitting time between strategic thinking to program execution and reporting.
Critical thinker who can synthesize facts, both structured and unstructured information, and use a broad set of communications modalities (slides, written reports, briefing notes, public presentations) to engage both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Strong project management skills that reflect your ability to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail and achieving deadlines.
A basic understanding of the visitor economy ecosystem ranging from accommodations, attractions, transportation providers, DMOs, communities and travellers.
