Job Summary:
The Production Planner ensures manufactured goods are produced in a cost-effective way that meets quality specifications, ensures the production and distribution of products runs smoothly, and ensures the work centers have material and work order priorities are clearly defined from scheduling. This position will work closely with the Operations team to supplement the day-to-day activities required to run the plant to be an efficient and productive facility.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for managing and executing the production schedule using the Syspro MRP system.
- Coordinates production plan activities with Production Manager, Lead-hands, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain personnel.
- Identify and report capacity and/or material supply problems based on ERP output.
- Monitors shop production progress daily.
- Attends and takes an active role in weekly and daily production meetings with the Operations team to review production progress compared to the schedule.
- Assists the Production Manager in directing the shop floor priorities. Updates Operations Team at a daily meeting on the status of critical items.
- Daily creation, confirmation, and print of required workorders to the shop floor.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to identify capacity constraints.
- Review work orders completions and identify exceptions.
- Monitor aging open work orders.
- Manages supply and demand as per the MRP Material Plan.
- Coordinate material releases with Engineering.
- Other duties as specified by the Operations Manager.
Requirements:
- Physical:
- Must be capable of working prolonged periods standing, sitting, squatting,

- Mathematics.
- The use of the English language, both Oral and Written.
- Requires daily communication with multiple departments to insure maximum efficiency.

Education & Skills:
- Requires a college diploma in Business, Industrial Engineering or related filed.
- Requires APICS Certification or equivalent.
- Knowledge of industrial manufacturing techniques such as machining, mechanical assembly, and welding.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Teamwork, excellent safety acumen and independent judgment is required.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to participate and facilitate group meetings.
Experience:
- 3 - 5 years in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
- Experience in Syspro would be an asset.
- 2+ years working with an MRP system in a similar role.
- Computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ERP systems)
Working Conditions:
- Hours of operation: 7 am to 4 pm.
