Description:
My client is seeking a Senior Structural Designer (Contract) to take a leading role in multiple aspects of structural engineering design, including planning, site evaluations, calculations, and the preparation of reports, specifications, proposals, and construction documentation. This position involves working on a variety of projects across diverse sectors and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures using engineering calculations, sketches, specifications, and design information in line with project standards.
Oversee a range of drawing production tasks, including layout, calculations, and design on complex, non-routine assignments.
Serve as lead designer on industrial, manufacturing, and facility modification projects, including new facility construction.
Perform and review 2D drafting and 3D modeling tasks to ensure quality and compliance with engineering standards.
Execute structural design tasks using prescribed methods, including drawing sequencing, system component sizing, and refinement of rough sketches.
Review and revise structural designs, sketches, redlines, and markups for ongoing projects.
Prepare and verify structural calculations, ensuring alignment with relevant design codes and specifications.
Draft and design structural elements and construction details.
Conduct reviews of design drawings to ensure they meet scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
Integrate project schedules, budgets, and criteria into structural layouts and designs.
Approve revisions to project drawings, plot files, and related documentation in a structured manner.
Participate in marketing and client development activities.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.
Ensure strict adherence to QA/QC procedures and company safety policies.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and design standards.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or a related field with at least 13 years of relevant experience;
OR an Associate's degree with 14 years of experience;
OR a total of 15 years of progressive detailing and design experience in lieu of a degree.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Tekla, SmartPlant 3D, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, RISA-3D, Navisworks, and Excel.
Strong expertise in structural design theory, practices, and related software.
Familiarity with cross-discipline concepts and ability to apply them effectively in a design context.
