THE ROLE
On behalf of our client, we are looking for aMAINTENANCE TECHfor a large international steel company located inHAMILTON. They are a growing company and offer their employees excellent benefits along with a good work-life balance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections on machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve to maintain power transmission, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Perform welding, grinding, machining, and fabrication as required.
- Determine necessary changes, adjustments, and modifications to obtain desired results from machinery, using OEM specifications, blueprints, sketches, and manuals.
- Ensure plant and equipment is in good order by regular inspection and site audit.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) plan for the Hamilton site.
- Working collaboratively with the production team to resolve machine issues.
- Understand and follow Lockout/Tagout and machine guarding program.
- Investigate cost effective solutions to plant and machine problems.
- Create a positive SH&E culture by performing all tasks Safely. Participate in safety programs including PTW, JSERAs, JCCs, and promote safe work practices.
- Attend shift crossover meetings to discuss potential ongoing concerns and resolve machine issues.
- Contacting external vendors as needed to resolve machine issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of maintenance experience working on heavy machinery
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, materials, tooling, presses, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls etc
- Experience working in the steel industry
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Trades accreditation is an asset, or equivalent work experience.
- Industrial experience is an asset (Stamping press, Roll form, automation, etc.)
- Valid Forklift certification is an asset
