Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver based company, has developed a breakthrough platform for the most cost-effective production of battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate from diverse input streams and assets. Mangrove's modular solution can be scaled to any capacity and co-located with upstream lithium producers or cathode and cell manufacturers. The platform technology is being commercialized for the conversion of waste brines to chemicals and desalinated water. The company recently attracted funding through Breakthrough Energy, BMW i Ventures, and BDC Capital and is working towards the deployment of

a first-of-a-kind commercial plant.

Position

We are looking for 2 dedicated R&D Technicians to be responsible for conducting tests using electrochemical cells. The R&D Technicians will work with R&D department to analyze and characterize the electrochemical cell performances and material analyses. The Technicians will be fully responsible for testing, analysing data and providing updates to the R&D manager. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, highly motivated team with significant potential for growth and career development in several areas. The position also offers the opportunity to address challenging and highly relevant problems within the lithium-ion battery space.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting experiments on bench scale electrochemical cells
  • Preparing test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests and advising and coordinating test procedures.
  • Determining chemical and physical properties, compositions of solutions
  • Identifying and solving process and equipment problems.
  • Conferring with scientists and engineers to analyze, interpret, and develop tests.
  • Writing technical reports, and preparing standards and specifications for processes, tests, and products.
  • Maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting malfunctions, and purchasing new laboratory supplies.
  • Evaluating and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety procedures and standards.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in chemical technology or related fields is preferred.
  • 1 or more years of laboratory or industrial experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening shifts and weekends.
  • Experience in chemical analysis and electrochemical cells.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and passionate about learning. Willing to be hands-on.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of scientists and engineers.
