Position Overview:
Penny Appeal Canada is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Special Events Coordinator as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. The Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of various special events and fundraising initiatives throughout the summer months.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events, including but not limited to fundraising galas, community engagement activities, and awareness campaigns.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including venue selection, vendor management, catering, equipment rentals, and transportation.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to develop event timelines, budgets, and promotional materials.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for event support and ensure proper training and orientation.
  • Assist with marketing and promotional efforts to increase event attendance and engagement, including social media campaigns, email newsletters, and press releases.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, guest assistance, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and analysis to assess outcomes, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to events, including budgets, expenses, and participant data.


Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or recent graduate (within the last year).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with event management software/tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and passion for humanitarian and charitable work is an asset.
