Our office in Stoney Creek, Ontario is looking for an analytical, reliable, and dedicated Quality Control Inspector to support the team at various project sites located in Hamilton, ON and Nanticoke, ON.


Summary of the Role:

Reporting to the Area Manager and Corporate Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Inspector will primarily responsible for implementing, monitoring and ensuring compliance with company quality policies, programs and practices in respect of the various and required codes and standards on company work projects and fabrications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish quality standards for evaluation of products.
  • Examine work pieces to determine conformance with specifications and welding requirements.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders for workers.
  • Perform visual, dimensional and weld inspections.
  • Perform non-destructive testing on piping and pressure vessels built to ASME/ANSI codes.
  • Monitors currency of welder qualification records and certifications
  • Maintain inspection and calibration records.
  • Verify dimensions of fabrications and code vessel calibration using various inspection tools.
  • Coordinate activities for fabrication to various ASME code vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with code standards and requirements (i.e. ASME-BPVC Sections I, V, VIII (Div. 1) and IX; ASME B31.1 and B31.3; CSA N299, and ISO 9001).
  • Establish procedures for testing welding to code requirements.
  • Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Present and expedite solutions to fabrication/installation problems and testing procedures.
  • Compile, analyze and present history dockets, history files & data reports (i.e. U1A forms, data reports, partial data reports).
  • Participate in company audits.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills

  • Background with inspection and construction operations is required.
  • Excellent communication skills are required (both written & verbal).
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree or diploma in Quality, Engineering or C.E.T. is considered an asset.
  • Knowledgeable of various inspections techniques and construction codes. Conversant with ASME-BPVC Sections I, II, V, VIII (Division 1), and IX and B31.1 and B31.3.
  • Knowledge of and experience with CSA B51, N299, and ISO 9001.
  • Familiar with the development of ITP (Inspection Test Plans) to various codes.
  • Minimum of 3 years' Q.A. field experience in a construction and/or nuclear environment.
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certification would be an asset.
