Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: North York, Toronto, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  • Execute monthly closing tasks, encompassing accruals for various expenses such as car allowance, equipment leases, rent, courier services, legal fees, consultancy fees, IT expenses, payroll, and Yardi fees.
  • Prepare monthly Corporate Financial Statements along with comprehensive variance analysis and internal commentary for monthly meetings.
  • Compile quarterly Board packages and generate annual working papers for internal audit, tax group, and external audits.
  • Aid in the preparation of Projections, Annual Budget, and 5-year Strategic plan, encompassing Cash Flow and Balance Sheet analysis.
  • Perform monthly Cash flow analysis and maintain a rolling annual cash flow file.
  • Manage condo profitability file in alignment with Annual Budget and projections.
  • Review and refine accounting processes, implementing reporting enhancements to streamline operations.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger for corporate books and provide supervision and mentorship to the accounting team.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance to document critical accounting internal controls.
  • Monitor monthly management fees, conducting comparisons against budget and prior year.
  • Review annual WSIB and EHT reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • CPA Designation required, with 5+ years experience in full cycle Real Estate accounting; experience in property management is considered an asset.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and strong commitment to established deadlines.
  • Organized and efficient with excellent multitasking skills and the ability to thrive under pressure amidst changing priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Yardi Voyager 7S and Microsoft Excel, Word.
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with a focus on goals and results.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with minimal direction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
