*Job Summary* We are seeking an experienced *DA AVOP Trainer / Airside Operations Instructor* to lead the delivery of high-quality Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP) training at Toronto Pearson International Airport. This is a highly specialized position requiring an individual who has extensive hands-on experience operating on the airside and possesses an in-depth understanding of GTAA Airport Traffic Directives, airside safety requirements, airport operations, and the practical realities of driving within one of Canada's busiest airports. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing safe, knowledgeable, and confident airside vehicle operators while maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and compliance. *Mandatory Qualifications:* *Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.* * Minimum 5 years of continuous experience holding a valid DA AVOP at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
* Extensive knowledge of GTAA Airside Operations.
* Comprehensive understanding of Airport Traffic Directives (ATDs).
* Strong knowledge of airport roadways, manoeuvring areas, aprons, gates, service roads, taxiways, and operational procedures.
* Proven experience operating vehicles safely within the airside environment.
* Excellent understanding of aviation safety practices and Transport Canada regulations.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to confidently facilitate classroom and practical field training.
* Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
* Previous experience delivering AVOP, aviation, safety, or operational training is considered a strong asset. *Key Responsibilities:* * Deliver certified DA AVOP training programs through engaging classroom instruction.
* Teach Airport Traffic Directives, airside safety procedures, airport signage, pavement markings, airfield lighting, radiotelephone procedures, and GTAA operational requirements.
* Conduct practical airside driving instruction and performance evaluations.
* Prepare participants for GTAA written and practical AVOP examinations.
* Assess student competency and provide coaching to ensure successful certification.
* Maintain accurate training records including attendance, examinations, evaluations, certifications, and participant progress.
* Coordinate course scheduling, enrolment, certification tracking, and reporting.
* Act as the primary point of contact for AVOP-related inquiries from students and operational clients.
* Identify training gaps and recommend improvements to instructional methods and course materials.
* Remain current with GTAA Airport Traffic Directives, Transport Canada regulations, and aviation industry best practices.
* Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures related to AVOP training.
* Consult with operational leaders to identify training requirements and operational needs.
* Perform additional duties related to aviation training and operational excellence. *We're Looking For Someone Who* * Lives and breathes airside operations.
