We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Storekeeper / Inventory Controller to support receiving, inventory, storage, and distribution operations within our food-service kitchens.
The successful candidate will ensure that food, beverages, supplies, and other products are received accurately, stored appropriately, rotated properly, and maintained at required inventory levels. This role works closely with culinary teams, suppliers, purchasing, and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
- Check quantities, product specifications, quality, packaging, and condition of incoming goods.
- Report shortages, overages, substitutions, damages, and incorrect deliveries.
- Accurately enter receiving and inventory information into web-based inventory systems.
- Conduct scheduled physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment requirements based on established par levels.
- Organize, label, date, and rotate products using FIFO/FEFO principles.
- Ensure food products are stored appropriately in dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage areas.
- Monitor product shelf life and identify products approaching expiry.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas.
- Assist with stock transfers and distribution of products to kitchens and food-service outlets.
- Track inventory variances, waste, spoilage, and other product losses.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, delivery personnel, chefs, purchasing, and management.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, workplace health and safety, and safe-lifting procedures.
- Perform other receiving, inventory, and storekeeping duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, retail, hospitality, or food-service environments.
- Food-service or commercial kitchen experience is an asset.
- Good computer literacy and ability to learn and use web-based inventory and reporting systems.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately count, record, reconcile, and track inventory.
- Ability to read and understand purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, and inventory reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of FIFO/FEFO, food storage, and basic food-safety practices is an asset.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move products weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical receiving and inventory duties for extended periods.
