Are you a hands-on individual who enjoys variety in your workday and takes pride in keeping community spaces clean, safe, and welcoming? The City of Edmonton’s Community Services department is looking for motivated Labourer II’s to join our Community Centres team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the daily rhythm of our facilities. Operating with a high degree of independence, you will ensure our spaces are prepared for rental groups, programs, and events. If you are physically fit, customer-service oriented, and ready to contribute to a positive experience for every visitor, we want to hear from you! What will you do? - Set up and take down equipment for facility events, rentals, programs and sports activities - Maintain cleanliness of all storage areas, mechanical areas, electrical rooms, corridors, gymnasium, bleachers, multipurpose rooms, fitness centre, and running track areas - Safely operate specialized and simple equipment, such as tool cats, floor scrubbers, and power tools, performing pre-task safety inspections. - Participate in facility safety inspections - Perform minor repairs on facility equipment and furniture - Safely receive and store facility chemical and supply deliveries. - Provide a security presence throughout the facility - Provide excellent customer service, liaise with and assist customers with equipment and facility needs, assist external contractors with building sign-ins, and complete daily administrative checklists and incident reports. - Assist custodial staff with overall facility cleanliness and sanitation of washrooms, shower rooms and locker rooms - Create daily facility schedules to organize and prioritize your tasks for the day. - Perform exterior site maintenance, including clearing snow and ice using shovels, blowers, or walk-behind equipment, and cleaning up debris on site. - Inspect the building exterior for damage or vandalism, making minor repairs and escalating larger issues to the Crew Leader or Recreation Officer or trades personnel. - Maintain appropriate facility and equipment maintenance documentation - Perform the daily facility opening and closing procedures - Other related duties as required
