Are you a security professional looking to make a meaningful impact on the safety and integrity of municipal operations? The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated Corporate Security Advisor to join our Corporate Security team within Legal Services. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping to protect our municipal workforce, public assets, and physical spaces. If you are passionate about security risk mitigation, detailed investigations, and building safe, resilient environments for our teams and community partners, we want you on our team! High Level Overview of the Position As a Corporate Security Advisor, your primary mission is to provide timely, expert security advice to safeguard the assets of the City of Edmonton. You will play an active, collaborative role in identifying security threats, conducting comprehensive internal and external investigations, and recommending countermeasures to reduce risk and liability. This role requires a blend of investigative expertise, risk analysis, and strong interpersonal skills as you collaborate across departments. By keeping up to date with modern security methodologies and technology, you will help design proactive solutions that prevent losses and deter incident recurrence. Ultimately, your analytical mindset and commitment to safety will help shape a secure environment where municipal services can thrive. What will you do? - Provide Expert Security Advice: Partner with municipal business units to identify vulnerabilities, conduct physical security assessments, and recommend specific countermeasures to protect personnel, property, and information - Lead Investigations: Conduct objective, high-quality internal and external investigations into incidents such as property damage, theft, fraud, workplace harassment, or employee misconduct - Analyze Risks Proactively: Apply Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and root cause analyses to identify systemic vulnerabilities and prevent future security risks - Build Strong Partnerships: Collaborate closely with internal groups like Labour Relations, Occupational Health & Safety, and ETS Security, as well as external agencies like the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) and provincial authorities - Contribute to Specialized Protection: Provide executive protection support for elected officials and present security awareness seminars to empower City employees
