As a Business Planner, you will collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across the province to coordinate strategic planning and reporting activities. Through research, analysis, facilitation, and consultation, you will help advance organizational priorities and identify opportunities for improvement.
As an integral part of the team, you will be expected to work out of 777 Memorial Avenue, Orillia five (5) days a week.
About Us:
The Strategy Management Unit directly supports the organization's executive and senior command in the development, implementation, measurement and reporting of strategic priorities. Direct support is also provided to the bureau, region and detachment command in the development, implementation, measurement and reporting of action plan priorities. We are responsible for adjunct services including facilitation and project management which comprise the organizational planning framework.

• Support the OPP in achieving its goals and objectives by coordinating and facilitating strategic and business planning across the organization.
• Link organizational strategies to program outcomes and performance indicators.
• Conduct environmental scans and identify emerging trends, benchmarks, and leading practices.
• Recommend process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate planning sessions, workshops, and projects supporting business planning activities.
• Prepare reports, briefing notes, and submissions on planning-related issues and initiatives. What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements• Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
Strategic Planning, Research & Environmental Scanning• Knowledge of research and analytical methods and techniques and government planning processes to conduct and facilitate research and analysis.
• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in environmental scanning to conduct ongoing environmental scanning and develop benchmarks and best practices.
• Knowledge of performance measures and performance indicators to support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
• Planning, organizing and coordinating skills to support the development of business plans.
Business Analysis & Problem Solving• Organizational, analytical and program management skills to support bureau managers and OPP executives in optimizing business planning effectiveness and efficiency.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, assess impacts and develop effective recommendations and solutions.
• Ability to analyze complex information, identify trends and provide strategic advice to support decision-making.
Project & Program Management• Knowledge of project management tools, methodologies and techniques.
• Ability to manage projects and initiatives to achieve desired outcomes and deliver results.
• Program management skills to support planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting activities.
Stakeholder Engagement, Relationship Management & Leadership• Ability to build, manage and sustain respectful relationships and partnerships to promote alignment, collaboration and efficiency.
• Consultation, advisory and leadership skills to influence and support managers, executives and stakeholders.
• Ability to negotiate, mediate and resolve disputes while fostering cooperative and mutually satisfactory outcomes.
• Facilitation skills to engage stakeholders and support planning and project initiatives.
Communication & Business Writing• Written communication skills to prepare professional correspondence, reports, briefing notes and edit business plan submissions.
• Oral communication skills to clearly articulate recommendations, business planning approaches and project management advice to senior staff and management.
• Ability to facilitate meetings, deliver presentations and respond effectively to inquiries.
