Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

  • The SOR/APP declaration process as laid out in the data sourcing guideline is a structured and repeatable approach designed to efficiently identify and manage Systems of Record (SORs) and Authorized Provisioning Points (APPs) in accordance with the Enterprise Information Management Risk Policy

  • The Analyst, Data Sourcing is responsible for assisting with the SOR/APP declaration process to identify and declare SORs/APPs for fully managed domains and providing high level advisory support to self-managed domains to assist them in completing the end-to-end SOR/APP declaration process.

  • Role will maintain relationships with various business & IT stakeholders to understand & communicate details of the SOR/APP declaration process

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Assisting SOR/APP Declaration Process:

    • Analyze data lineage to identify and validate Systems of Record (SOR) and Authorized Point of Publication (APP) for Critical Data Elements (CDEs).

    • Collaborate with lineage analysts, stakeholders, and committees to review, present, and finalize declarations.

    • Document and maintain evidence of approvals in Collibra and SharePoint, ensuring compliance with RBC standards.

  • Provide Advisory Support:

    • Guide domains through SOR/APP self-management, including enablement training and process clarification.

    • Address ad-hoc queries and escalate complex issues as needed.

  • Foster Cross-Functional Relationships:

    • Engage with Data Management Offices, Control Owners, and System Owners across Lines of Business (LOBs) to align on data sourcing requirements.

    • Present Data Sourcing Guidelines and process details to stakeholders to ensure consistent adoption.

  • Drive Process Optimization:

    • Identify opportunities to streamline SOR/APP declarations by leveraging existing artifacts and reducing duplication.

    • Propose enhancements to improve efficiency, consistency, and documentation practices.

  • Support Team & Delivery:

    • Assist with ad-hoc requests and contribute to broader Data Sourcing team initiatives.

    • Develop expertise to become a trusted resource, advancing team capabilities and deliverables.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Prior experience in identifying and managing SORs/APPs or equivalent experience working with data.

  • Experience handling and deriving information from multiple sources of data, and large data sets.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology staff at different levels of seniority.

  • Understanding of retail and commercial banking policies, processes and procedures.

  • Strong ability to utilize the Microsoft Suite of tools (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio)

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools such as Collibra.

  • Familiarity with agile methodology and agility tools such as Jira.
