Job Description:

The Executive Director, Tertiary & Surgical Services is a key senior leader within the Saskatchewan Health Authority responsible for providing strategic, operational, and system leadership for tertiary and surgical services in Regina. Reporting to the Vice President Integrated Regina Health, the Executive Director works collaboratively with physician leaders, operational leaders, government, academic partners, and provincial programs to advance access, quality, patient safety, workforce sustainability, and achievement of provincial healthcare priorities. The Executive Director is accountable for translating organizational strategy into operational plans and measurable outcomes that improve patient care and system performance

The successful candidate will be a collaborative and strategic healthcare leader with extensive experience leading complex healthcare operations and transformational initiatives within a large, integrated health system.Top of Form

Education:

  • Graduate/ Masters level or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience, at a strategic level, as a leader who has developed and led innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • 10+ years in a leadership position with progressive advancement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare legislation, regulatory frameworks, and applicable provincial and federal laws impacting healthcare delivery and operations.
  • Advanced understanding of the Saskatchewan healthcare system, including provincial priorities, system integration, and emerging trends across Canada.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership with the ability to translate organizational vision, mission, and strategic priorities into actionable operational plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead complex system transformation initiatives focused on standardization, performance improvement, quality, and sustainability.
  • Strong leadership presence with a demonstrated ability to inspire, engage, coach, and develop high-performing teams and future leaders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, financial management, and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in complex and dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, ethical leadership, and personal integrity in all interactions and decision-making.
  • Proven ability to lead innovation, navigate change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated success building and sustaining strategic partnerships with government, physicians, unions, academic institutions, professional associations, healthcare organizations, and external stakeholders.
