Seeking a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner to join PeaceHealth's comprehensive cancer care team. Joseph Cancer Center team includes 5 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists, 2 Nurse Practitioners, Oncology Certified Nurses, Clinical Trials staff, Cancer Registrars and numerous professionals who provide support services. Our oncology physicians rotate to cover satellite clinics on San Juan Island and in Ketchikan, Alaska. We also partner with PeaceHealth United General Medical Center in Sedro Woolley, WA (30 minutes south) where the PA/NP may be expected to see patients 2 days per week. We have a new care model where the PA/NP would work in tandem with a Medical Oncologist. Commission on Cancer accredited facility Beautiful 35,000 square foot comprehensive cancer center in wooded, natural setting OCN Certified nurses, nurse navigators, social workers, nutritionists, financial counselors and spiritual support personnel onsite PeaceHealth has been selected to participate in the CMS Oncology Care Model which is an initiative to improve care through transformational models of care delivery General tumor board and site-specific tumor boards for breast and thoracic oncology to provide evidence-based medicine Complementary therapies Actively involved in clinical trials. Joseph Medical Center as well as the primary and specialty care provided by PeaceHealth Medical Group. Under the direct supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant is responsible for caring for, treating and triaging appropriately, patient's medical, physical and psychosocial needs. Provide needed procedures, including assisting in surgery and continually assess patient's needs and conduct appropriate follow up. ~ Counsel the patient as to preventative care, medical problems, exercise, and the use of prescribed medications and treatments. ~ Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license in Washington state, or ability to obtain by start date ~ Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs. (Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, other healthcare staff, and other departments (Required)~ Personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth, and collaborating with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality (Required)~ Basic computer skills (Required) Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
