The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community. The Engineering Department is seeking qualified, hard-working, and team-oriented people to join the team as an auxiliary Labourer 1 – Solid Waste and Recycling. In this role you will be performing routine manual work involving considerable physical effort and agility in the collection and disposal of garbage, recycling and green waste. The duties and responsibilities of staff working in the Solid Waste and Recycling division include, but are not restricted to: Collection of refuse, garbage, recycling, and food scraps/green waste Qualifications include up to high school graduation and knowledge and skill in the methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in garbage collection and recycling work. Hours of Work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts may vary between the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday and may include occasional weekends between the hours of 7:45AM to 4:15 PM.
