The Centre of Excellence for Skilled Trades and Manufacturing connects K-12 education with industry expertise, emerging technologies, and real-world learning opportunities across skilled trades and manufacturing. The Learning Specialist will engage industry experts to capture and translate current practices, technologies, and applications into virtual and experiential learning experiences that support curriculum outcomes, student achievement, and teacher professional learning. The role will strengthen connections between classrooms and the evolving world of skilled trades, manufacturing, and technology.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Digital Learning and System Excellence Branch, the successful candidate will collaborate with the Anglophone sector, industry partners, and other agencies to connect teachers and students across the four Anglophone school districts with skilled trades and manufacturing careers, while supporting curriculum-connected learning and real-world applications.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

• Work with the department, school districts, and industry to develop a connected network of experts to support virtual and experiential opportunities for students and teachers across the province.
• Contribute to the development of the Centre of Excellence model.
• Represent the Centre on committees and working groups.
• Liaise with businesses, community organizations, and other partners on related programs and opportunities.
• Develop and support programs and learning resources that provide opportunities for students in skilled trades and manufacturing, including in career education, co-op, and other placement opportunities.
• Develop and promote virtual and experiential learning activities that connect teachers and students with industry professionals.
• Coordinate meetings, events, and professional learning opportunities for teachers.
• Develop the centre's library of sharable resources, including technical documents, videos, and interactive materials to support teachers and students and highlight the variety of careers and learning options available in skilled trades and manufacturing.
• Collect data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress towards achieving centre goals.
• Participate in process improvement projects and contribute to initiatives and activities of the branch and EECD.

The candidate should also possess intermediate or higher technology skills and be enthusiastic about the evolution and growth of skilled trades and manufacturing in New Brunswick. Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

• Master's degree in Education, or a related field and a minimum of six (6) years of public-school teaching experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a skilled trades or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated effective relationship management with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in the development and delivery of curricula and professional learning.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

Nice to have:

• Written and spoken competence in French.
• Technology skills including areas such as:
  • CAD, CAM, 3D printing, table-top manufacturing,
  • Robotics and automation, industrial manufacturing processes
  • Maker spaces and builder-style hands-on technology
  • Additional skilled trades areas, e.g., culinary construction and transportation
• Successful completion of a Red Seal certification.
• Experience teaching skilled trades.
• Experience with safety protocols and other occupational health and safety standards.

Salary:

Pay Band 7: $94,146 - $113,906 annually.

Work environment:

• Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
• Some travel throughout province required.
• Remote work within New Brunswick can be considered.
• Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
