The Finance Analyst will be responsible for processing, monitoring, analyzing, and reconciling transactions and aiding in the completion of monthly reports ensuring the accuracy of financial records for internal and external parties in accordance with the accounting principles with Canadian Red Cross, established policies and procedures, relevant legislation, government guidelines, local contract requirements and audit requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Regularly analyse transactions and balances to ensure they are accurate, complete, and reasonable and identify any errors or omissions and prepare correcting journal entries as required.
  • Calculate various monthly reallocations and prepare the related journal entries.
  • Monitor outgoing project travel advances against returned expense claims and repayments via balance sheet account reconciliation and notify management of aged advances and concerning balances.
  • Identify deficiencies in transactional processes and recommend areas of improvement.
  • Ensure the monthly general ledger process occurs as scheduled.
  • Perform other transactional and account reviews and reporting as requested by management.
  • Support internal and external audits as needed.
  • Cross-train with other analysts to provide back up.

What we are looking for:

  • A university degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of one to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, techniques and policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Time management and organizational skills reflected in the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively.
