Emergency Planning Specialist

Salary Range: $42.28 - $52.80 hourly based on 40 hours per week

The Corporate Emergency Planning Specialist supports organizational resilience by leading emergency preparedness, business continuity, and continuity of operations planning initiatives. The position develops and maintains program frameworks, plans, training and exercise programs, and continuous improvement activities while serving as the primary liaison with New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization and other external partners. Through stakeholder engagement, risk-informed planning, situational awareness, and program coordination, the role enhances organizational readiness and supports the effective integration of emergency management practices across the enterprise.
Key functions include:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve emergency management and business continuity frameworks, plans, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments, facilitate training and exercises, evaluate readiness, and implement corrective actions and lessons learned to strengthen organizational preparedness and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison with emergency management partners, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to coordinate preparedness activities, support situational awareness, and enhance organizational readiness.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- University degree in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Six years of progressive experience in emergency preparedness, emergency management, business continuity, resilience, or related planning functions.
- Demonstrated experience developing plans, conducting risk assessments, facilitating exercises, delivering training, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with government agencies, emergency management organizations, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of emergency management and business continuity frameworks.
- Certification such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) would be considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
