Job SummaryThe Operations Manager for the Division of Genome Diagnostics and Centre for Translational Genomics (CTG) is responsible for the efficient and effective planning, staffing, directing, organizing, and evaluating the operations of genetic and genomic services within NL Health Services. The Operations Manager will oversee the functional relationships between clinical genetic and genomic services and relevant stakeholders (clinical patient-facing, laboratory, research, and policy). The incumbent has the responsibility to execute the strategic plan for the Division provided by the Division Head as well as the strategic plan for the CTG provided by the medical and scientific leadership of the CTG.

This position will primarily report to the Director of Laboratory Medicine and secondarily report to the Director of Research and Innovation for operational matters. The manager consults with and takes direction from the Division Head on clinical matters relevant to the Division of Genome Diagnostics. The operations manager will take direction from the CTG medical and scientific leads to execute its strategic plan.

Job Qualifications

Education
• Completion of a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, human genetics and genomics or related field is required.
• Completion of a master’s or doctoral degree in a related field is preferred.
• Completion of a recognized/accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Program and registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals is an asset.
• Certificate course in Laboratory Quality Improvement/Management considered an asset.

Work Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of recent professional experience in healthcare, laboratory, or other relevant professional settings (e.g., research, technical, regulatory, or operational environments) is required.
• Experience working in a leadership or management role is required.
• Experience leading and/or managing large-scale clinical or research initiatives/programs is preferred.
