The Corporate Services and Strategic Investments Division supports the department by providing financial, human resources, strategic planning, project support, and information management services. This division also administers several funding programs that support local, regional, environmental and climate priorities. The division is responsible for the development and tracking of the Climate Change Action Plan and management of the Climate Change Fund and the Output Based Pricing System.

What you will do?
As the leader of the Education and Engagement team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing departmental public education and awareness initiatives in collaboration with other branches, as well as consultation and engagement initiatives with respect to stakeholders and First Nations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading public education and awareness initiatives to support the Department's vision of a healthy environment and vibrant communities;
  • Leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities that support departmental staff's compliance with the government's Duty to Consult;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and First Nations;
  • Increasing overall departmental awareness regarding Aboriginal Treaty rights and culture, the constitutional obligations of the Crown, and current GNB/First Nations relations and reconciliation through training and various opportunities;
  • Developing proactive strategies in support of departmental programs and initiatives to foster better overall understanding and increase compliance with departmental rules and regulations.
  • Conducting research and analysis of internal and external client needs and designing plans for education and engagement in support of departmental programs and initiatives to meet identified needs.
  • Providing professional advice to departmental leaders and staff;
  • Setting team priorities, key performance indicators, and objectives, and working with the team to achieve these

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Essential qualifications
University degree in Business, Public Administration, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field such as Public Relations, Journalism) with a minimum of six (6) years related work experience. Experience must also include at least 2 years of supervisory experience OR a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience and successful completion of a recognized management training/development program (Public Service Management Program, Human Resources Management Program, Management Development Program). An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in public engagement and relationship development;
  • Demonstrated experience in First Nations relationships, engagement, and the duty to consult and,
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating public meetings and group.

Operational Requirements
Travel throughout the province is required. A valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is required.

Wage
Pay Band 6: $3,021.00 to $4,019.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week

Work environment

  • Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
