The Secteur des services éducatifs francophones is seeking a dynamic and competent person to fill the position of director of continuing education and distance learning (online courses). Under the supervision of the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Secteur des services éducatifs francophones, and in cooperation with the Francophone sector's leadership team, the chosen candidate's responsibilities will include implementing the provincial education plan and achieving the objectives and priorities of the Francophone sector. The successful candidate will also oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of online course offerings for high school students as well as the development and implementation of continuing education courses, including the planning and monitoring of the provincial professional development plan.
What you will do:
The chosen candidate will have various people leadership responsibilities in accordance with the frameworks established by the Department. They will supervise a team of learning specialists, instructional designers, digital content design and production specialists and the team in charge of designing and delivering online high school courses.
This person will also maintain good working relationships within the Department and with other education stakeholders. Other related tasks within the Direction de la formation continue et de l'éducation à distance may be added to those listed.
The successful candidate will have the following main responsibilities:
- Implementing the provincial education plan for continuing education and distance learning
- Ensuring the objectives and priorities of the Francophone sector are met
- Overseeing the development, updating and delivery of online high school courses
- Ensuring the development and implementation of continuing education courses for teachers
- Coordinating the planning and monitoring of the provincial professional development plan
- Supervising a team of learning specialists, instructional designers, digital content design and production specialists and the team in charge of designing and delivering online high school courses
- Collaborating on an ongoing basis with post-secondary institutions to align initial education and certain continuing education courses with current and future needs
- Managing and developing learning tools and platforms, including Carrefour éducatif, to ensure their relevance and accessibility
Who you are:
You have an in-depth understanding of New Brunswick's Francophone education system. You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) and work well with people whose experience and skills are different from your own. You are organized, independent and able to work under pressure. You demonstrate creativity and flexibility when necessary. You have several years' experience managing staff and outstanding leadership skills. You demonstrate professionalism at all times. You care about the well-being of all learners.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Master's degree in education or a related field
- Minimum of eight years' teaching experience in public schools, including two years in staff management
- Excellent written and spoken competence in French
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a field such as adult education may be considered.

Wage:
Pay Band 8 - $112 398 - $126 594 annually.
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
- The team is composed of 10 or so employees
- Under exceptional circumstances, a remote work agreement in New Brunswick may be considered.
- Normal work hours: Monday to Friday from 8:15AM to 4:30PM
