Position: Able Bodied Seafarer/Deckhand

Location: Offshore Newfoundland

Employment Type: Temporary/Adhoc

Job Summary: Able Bodied Seafarer/Deckhand is responsible for safe deck operations, maintenance, and navigation support.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Transport Canada Bridge Watch Rating Certificate
  • STCW Basic Safety and Proficiency in Survival Craft
  • H2S Alive
  • Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • Marine First Aid with 3 years validity and CPR
  • WHMIS
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize safety and environmental protection at all times by following company PPE requirements and safe work procedures under Deck Officer supervision.
  • Carry out watchkeeping duties as directed by the Officer of the Watch.
  • Conduct fire and security rounds and maintain gangway watch in port as directed by the Officer of the Watch.
  • Carry out general maintenance and housekeeping duties as directed by the Chief Officer, including painting, cleaning, planned maintenance, and tank inspections.
  • Carry out deckhand duties at port and offshore installations, including mooring/unmooring and line handling, ship-assist line handling, loading stores, cargo operations (loading, discharging, and backloading), cargo hose handling, cargo lashing, and anchor-handling and towing operations.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety procedures and the various processes within the safety management system.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of pollution regulations and the company's environmental protection objectives.
  • Other duties as required
