Position: Junior Engineer
Location: Offshore Newfoundland
Employment Type: Temporary/Adhoc
Job Summary: The Junior Engineer is responsible for the proper, safe, efficient and economical operation for the vessel's machinery and equipment assigned to their care.
PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Transport Canada Fourth-Class Engineer License (Unlimited)
- STCW Basic Safety, Proficiency in Survival Craft, and Advanced Fire Fighting
- H2S Alive
- Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
- Transport Canada Marine Medical
- Marine First Aid with 3 years validity and CPR
- WHMIS
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep a safe and efficient engine room watch, monitor machinery performance in compliance with applicable regulations, the Chief Engineer's standing orders, and company policies and procedures, and maintain the engine room logbook.
- Carry out relevant planned maintenance tasks in line with the vessel's program, as directed by the Chief Engineer.
- Supervise the Oilers assigned to their watch, ensuring that cleaning station tasks are properly carried out.
- Execute safety procedures as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
- Keep a record of spare parts used and report this information to the Chief Engineer.
- Ensure that areas and equipment are kept clean and that proactive measures are taken to ensure all operations comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety procedures and the various processes within the safety management system.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of pollution regulations and the company's environmental protection objectives.
