Position: Junior Officer
Location: Offshore Newfoundland
Start Date: ASAP
Job Summary: Navigational watch, inspection/maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment, safety drills, reporting, other duties as required
PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Transport Canada Watchkeeping Mate (Unlimited) License
- STCW Basic Safety, Proficiency in Survival Craft, and Advanced Fire Fighting
- H2S Alive
- DP Induction
- Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
- Transport Canada Marine Medical
- Marine First Aid with 3 years validity
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure safe and effective navigational watchkeeping in compliance with international regulations, Master's Standing Orders, and company policies, while maintaining accurate Deck and Radio Logbooks.
- Record safety meeting minutes and report them to the Master for review
- Responsible for the care, inspection, and maintenance of all lifesaving and firefighting equipment.
- Ensure firefighting and lifesaving appliance plans are properly displayed in designated areas and kept up to date.
- Ensure SOLAS training and firefighting manuals are kept current and updated in accordance with applicable requirements
- Prepare Emergency Drill Reports.
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety procedures and the various processes within the safety management system.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of pollution regulations and the company's environmental protection objectives.
- Other duties as required
