JOB PURPOSE

This is an advanced professional nursing role in the management of nursing staff at the Oromocto Public Hospital (OPH). OPH entails management over clinical care delivery, human resources, financial resources and alignment to the strategic focus of the Seniors Health Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
  • Licensed with NANB
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical geriatric experience, including recent experience working in a Geriatric/ALC environment
  • MLD New Manager Program, Cornerstone and Leading One Horizon course preferred completed, or ability to complete in one year of hire
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates Leadership Competencies - leadership, resource management, conflict resolution skills, sound judgement and decision making
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage change effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proven computer technology skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a variety of health care providers, including nurses, physicians, managers, and staff from other disciplines
  • Good work record and ability to attend work on a regular basis
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • It is expected that the Nurse Manager uses a high level of prioritization and time management skills, while performing a broad range of the listed Horizon core management and leadership competencies.
  • Work responsibility may change as necessary to achieve the strategic goals of Horizon Health Network.
  • Resource Management
  • Works collaboratively with the respective Program Director to align planning with strategic direction and identified needs of the unit
  • Understands the purchasing process and uses appropriately
  • Effectively manages employees' performance, utilizing appropriate processes
  • Manages employees' attendance on a regular basis
  • Leads the recruitment, selection, hiring and orientation of new staff in consultation with Program Director and Human Resources Department
  • Participates in program meetings, network meetings, etc. as assigned
