At Ambulance New Brunswick, our team consists of talented emergency medical dispatchers, primary and advanced care paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and critical care flight nurses. Health care professionals who respond with their best in some of the most difficult situations imaginable.

As the provincial ambulance service provider, our dispatchers respond to calls from those in medical distress through the 911 system and send help within seconds. Our paramedics take over from there, responding to approximately 130,000 calls per year and transporting patients to hospital by ambulance. And, each year, our specialized air ambulance crew transfers hundreds of the most critically ill and injured patients to specialized medical centres around the Maritimes and beyond.

Duties of Position:

Supervises employees and participates in the planning, organization and directing of ambulance services within an administrative area. Employees in this position must also perform the duties of the Paramedic classification; related and allied duties necessary to the operation of ANB may be assigned from time to time.

  • Schedule employees' work time and vacations using TeleStaff;
  • Supervise site personnel - provide leadership and direction to site personnel for day-to-day operations;
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new employees;
  • Perform administrative duties such as assisting in budget control;
  • Evaluate ANB's programs and ensure all policies of ANB and MHSNB are adhered to in daily operations;
  • Make routine operational decisions on behalf of ANB and MHSNB in the absence of the Operations Managers;
  • Assist in introducing new methods, techniques and equipment;
  • Make recommendations on the selection of equipment and supplies;
  • Troubleshoot areas such as equipment, mechanical or fleet issues that arise, including the arrangement for repair and replacement vehicle and/or equipment;
  • Provide an appropriate stock of equipment and supplies and compile summaries of usage of supplies;
  • Provide for the preparation and maintenance of adequate clinical records;
  • Take direction from and complete tasks assigned by either the Operations Manager or Regional Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • You are entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit);
  • Must be registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick; If you are not currently registered in New Brunswick, please visit PANB at www.panb.ca;
  • Must have a minimum of two years progressive work experience as a Paramedic including service with ANB;
  • Must have a valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent);
  • Must have proficient knowledge Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel);
  • Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous and current experience with an emergency ambulance service;
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record;
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability;
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality;
  • Must have excellent work habits and be neat in appearance;
  • Must be willing to participate in the field education of Paramedics;
  • Must be willing to participate in all advanced training modules offered by Ambulance NB, such as TeleStaff training;
  • Must be willing to participate in various work committees and public relations events;
  • Previous supervisory experience in an emergency ambulance service will be considered an asset; and
  • Enrolment or Certification in Basic Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Site Management and/or Emergency Operations Centre Management training programs will be considered an asset.

The required qualifications for the Primary Care OR Advanced Care Paramedic classification are also requirements for this classification.

  • Current Resume and Cover Letter
  • A copy of your PCP or ACP diploma from an accredited institution
  • Proof of current registration with Paramedic Association of New Brunswick
  • Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) specific to working as a paramedic within the last 12 months
  • Proof of valid CPR level C certification issued in the last 12 months
  • Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver's license (or equivalent) with minimum one year driving experience
  • Driver's abstract; issued within the last 30 days
  • Copy of any valid Driver's course certificate i.e. CEVO, VFIS or NS VSP or equivalent issued within the last three years
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check; issued within the last 30 days
  • Immunization Record (Tetanus Tdap) within the last 10 years, 2 MMR vaccines (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) or lab evidenced immunity, 2 Varicella vaccines (Chicken Pox) or lab evidenced immunity, 3 Hepatitis B doses and Lab evidenced immunity, TB Skin Test (2 step) and a 1-step in the last 12 months; if reactive a follow up chest x-ray).
