We are looking for a Capital Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Manager, Capital Accounting, you will process capital accounting transactions, complete month-end close activities, administer NS Power's Capital Accounting system, and deliver support to other business areas impacting capital and contribute to regulatory proceedings.
Key elements of this role include:
- Preparing relevant, timely and accurate accounting reports for NSPI's Property, Plant and Equipment for use by various stakeholders.
- Preparing the month end close process for the Capital Accounting team capital month end and ensuring accurate completion of reconciliations.
- Supporting capital project managers and capital leads throughout the business, ensuring that financial information is complete and accurate.
- Being the capital accounting software system administrator and assisting with the processing of transactions.
- Improving processes and troubleshooting issues in the capital accounting software system.
- Supporting the Capital Accounting team with ad hoc accounting processes and special projects, as required.

- Possesses a Business Administration diploma or degree, with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Detail oriented and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate strong relationship and communication skills, and a customer focus.
- Have strong computer skills to accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and are comfortable with the creation and analysis of financial models and detailed spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of information systems will be considered an asset as data integration and troubleshooting of technical software issues will be required.
- Candidates interested in pursuing or who are in the process of pursuing a CPA designation would be considered an asset.
