Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring an Co-op Environmental Engineering student for the Summer 2026 term with our Power Production Environmental Services team.

During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it's like to be part of a team providing engineering and scientific support related to regulatory environmental approvals and environmental monitoring programs, including support for environmental management systems (EMS) and capital projects across Nova Scotia Power's generating stations.


Key elements of this role include:
  • Supporting environmental monitoring, studies, and compliance programs undertaken at NSPI power production facilities.
  • Assisting with process improvement, data entry & analysis, building data historian related to laboratory data.
  • Supporting CAD drawing updates for power plants and emissions controls systems.
  • Gathering and analyzing operational and maintenance data to identify process variations and improvement opportunities.
  • Assisting with process documentation, SharePoint organization and development.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.


These skills will make you successful:

Working as a valued part of our Environmental Services team, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Working towards an Environmental/Chemical Engineering degree or Science degree, ideally in the 2nd to 4th year of your studies
  • Students in other Engineering disciplines or Sciences will also be considered
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of relevant NS environmental legislation, regulations, codes and standards
  • Ability to work with data and communicate insights clearly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, data analysis, or SharePoint, CAD is considered an asset
  • The ability to develop code in a variety of languages (SQL, JavaScript, Python) is considered an asset
