SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY :

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor is responsible for the training, teaching and maintenance of the clinical competencies of health care staff in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and immediate critical interventions. The incumbent may also be required to deliver other training courses related to their area of expertise, depending on the operational needs of the department.

The successful candidate will contribute directly to patient safety, quality care and preparing clinical teams to respond to life-threatening situations.

REQUIREMENTS :

• College diploma in a health field (e.g. licensed practical nurse, respiratory therapist, emergency medical technician);
• Valid BLS Instructor certification from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or commitment to obtaining this certification as soon as possible (instructor training is covered by the employer);
• Experience as a BLS instructor considered an asset;
• In-depth knowlede of BLS resuscitation protocols;
• Ability to teach adults in a professional setting;
• Comfortable with clinical simulation and practical teaching;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
• Good work history (performance and attendance);
• Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
• Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
