We are looking for a Regional Planner (Transmission and Maintenance) to join our team.
Key elements of this role include:
As a member of the Substation Operations team,
- You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a long term equipment maintenance work plan including capital equipment upgrades and preventative and corrective maintenance for substations equipment, thermal and hydro generation equipment, customer owned equipment and telecommunications equipment.
- You will actively manage the work plan by setting priorities, identifying, sourcing and procuring required materials, and balancing financial and labour resources with safety and identifying and reporting barriers that may hinder completion of the plans objectives.
- The successful candidate will apply preventive maintenance schedules, will review test results and conduct site inspections to maintain quality assurance of equipment maintenance.
- In addition, you will write switching procedures, identify and scope capital requests, provide detailed cost estimates for internal and external customers and provide technical support for work crews.
- You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.
- You will be required to participate in regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
- This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure.
- You must be flexible and be willing to locate your personal residence within 30 minutes of headquarters and be available for after hour emergency service restoration.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- A Grade XII education or equivalent, a Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering Technology and/or an Industrial Electrician Certificate, familiarity with Standard Protection Code, Thermal/Hydro Plant Safe Work Permit and Code of Practices are required. A minimum of five (5) years' work experience in transmission/distribution equipment, telecommunication equipment, underground equipment, or thermal/hydro generation equipment maintenance is preferred
- The successful applicant must be adaptable to change and a self-motivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and scheduling process.
- You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver's abstract satisfactory to NSPI.
- A good working knowledge of computers, the work management and scheduling system, and electrical maintenance experience is preferred.
- This position will require you to manage the schedule of a unionized work force of technicians and electricians on a daily basis according to the IBEW/NSP Collective Agreement and NSP Human Resources Policies, while maintaining shop safety, environmental compliance, and productivity
