Public Prosecution Services within the Department of Justice and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General, is seeking an individual to join Public Prosecution Services to serve as a bilingual Regional Director (MLI).

The mandate of the Office of the Attorney General is to promote the impartial administration of justice and ensure the protection of the public interest in New Brunswick on behalf of the Crown. The Office includes the Public Prosecutions Services.

What you will do
As a member of the Public Prosecutions Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to a group of Crown Prosecutors within their respective regional offices and addressing human resources issues as they arise. The successful candidate will also handle criminal and quasi-criminal prosecutions in all levels of Court for offences under the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Control Drugs and Substance Act, Cannabis Act and Provincial Statutes, and will be responsible for the delivery of prosecutions services including the assignment and management of cases or files.

Need to have

  • Law Degree and membership in good standing or eligibility for membership to the Law Society of New Brunswick
  • Experience in supervision and management of staff
  • Extensive criminal law experience in dealing with increasingly complex criminal files
  • Extensive Experience in advising law enforcement with respect to complex investigations
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the area of judicial authorizations
  • Must have more than 8 years to the Bar as of June 2026. Please state your date of admission to a Canadian Law Society.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Operational Requirements: The following operational requirements are also required:

  • Travel within the province
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license

Nice to Have: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:

Wage
$5,360.00 to $6,407.00 Biweekly ($139,360.00 to $166,582.00 annually) plus adjustments, where applicable
Placement on wage scale is based on education and experience. Rates are as of April 1, 2026

Work environment

  • Northwest Region - Edmundston Regional Office, Edmundston, New Brunswick and Woodstock Regional Office, Woodstock, New Brunswick
  • A minimum of 36.25 hours per week
