Hours: Full-Time | 40 hours per week | Temporary to Permanent
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) + occasional Saturdays (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Job Overview:
Advantage Personnel is currently seeking a driven and hands-on Service Manager to oversee operations within a busy service department. This is not a desk-only role-this position requires someone who can lead workflow, support customers, and actively assist with the physical movement and handling of equipment throughout the day.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of customer service, coordination, and mechanical involvement in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily service department operations and workflow
- Manage customer intake, service scheduling, and work order coordination
- Communicate with customers regarding service updates, timelines, and equipment status
- Coordinate and support technicians to ensure efficient turnaround times
- Move equipment through the service process-from drop-off to repair to pickup
- Assist with loading/unloading customer equipment using ramps and trailers
- Start, assess, and help identify issues with small engine equipment
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory tracking
- Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient workspace (indoor and outdoor)
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Service Manager, Service Advisor, or similar role
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs and handle equipment throughout the day
- Comfortable moving multiple lawn and snow machines daily (20+ units)
- Hands-on experience starting and handling equipment such as chainsaws, lawn mowers, trimmers, and snowblowers
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and communicate equipment issues
- Experience loading and unloading equipment using ramps and trailers
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all conditions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workflow and multiple priorities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Willingness to stay active, get hands dirty, and support all aspects of the operation
Preferred Backgrounds:
- Experience in a lumber yard, garden centre, hardware store, or similar environment
- Previous work as a technician, mechanic, landscaper, or in a dealership service centre
- Post-secondary education is considered an asset but not required
