OFFICE OF THE PROVOST & VICE PRESIDENT ACADEMIC
The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic is responsible for all academic matters at the University of New Brunswick's two main campuses in Fredericton and Saint John and the Moncton site and drives the academic mission of the University toward the strategic goals of the Toward 2030 Strategic Plan. The Provost and Vice-President Academic oversees and leads the university-wide activities of the three Vice-Provost Offices and Deans.

Salary Range: $65,269 - $88,681 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer & Advisor, the Academic Project Manager develops, coordinates, prioritizes, shapes, and executes projects across the academic portfolio. This position leads complex projects from planning through to completion, proactively identifying challenges and developing solutions while building strong relationships across the institution. The Academic Project Manager facilitates group discussions, fosters consensus, and advances strategic partnerships in support of the Provost's vision.

  • Manage large-scale projects under the direction of the Senior Executive Officer and Advisor, maintaining project plans inclusive of scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Guide project teams by managing team dynamics and fostering collaboration and motivation.
  • Identify project stakeholders, maintain regular communication, and manage expectations throughout the project life cycle.
  • Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor risk throughout the project.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, status reports, briefing notes, and project plans.
  • Conduct research, best practice reviews, and data collection to support project objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and progress reports tailored to specific stakeholder audiences, highlighting key milestones, issues, and achievements.
  • Lead working groups within the Office of the Provost and across the institution to research recent developments and design and implement innovative best practices, ensuring representation from faculty, staff, and students with attention to EDI and decolonization principles.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, including processing and tracking expenses, reimbursements, invoices, and payments in adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate project-related events, including launch activities, communication milestones, and wrap-up sessions.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field, including project management and/or public relations courses.
  • 3 years experience in a professional office setting managing projects.

  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, and governance is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience communicating effectively with clients, donors, and/or executives on critical and sensitive matters, with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with superior organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and changing demands with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solver who anticipates challenges and develops solutions before they arise.
