The Scientist I-IV (Environment) is responsible for ensuring that all construction and maintenance activities comply with environmental legislation and company requirements. When violations are identified, this position is accountable for documenting the issues and collaborating with employees and contractors to implement appropriate corrective actions and develop measures to prevent recurrence.
Key functions include:
• Performing field audits and inspections to ensure environmental compliance
• Assessing the potential environmental effects of field decisions when issues arise and developing mitigation strategies or corrective action plans in consultation with staff, contractors and regulators.
• Training and advising field personnel and contractors of environmentally sensitive areas and the mitigation measures to be implemented during work activities.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Bachelor's degree of Science in Environment & Natural Resources
• One year of experience performing field-based duties related to environmental monitoring of construction and maintenance activities
• Experience working around heavy equipment in remote areas (i.e Crane, Excavator, Bulldozer etc.)
• Experience working with GIS (Geographical Information System) and mapping
• Experience in developing and implementing effective environmental programs and procedures
• Fluency with use of MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational skills
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
