About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Provincial Data and Information Services, the role is
responsible for:
- Leading the planning, development, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide data platform and business intelligence solutions to support executive reporting, clinical performance metrics, population health monitoring and research.
- Supports compliance with provincial and federal regulations related to personal health information, data privacy, and security protocols in collaboration with NLHS? privacy and information governance teams.
- Provides leadership and guidance for overall data architecture within the data platform, ensuring that data across NLHS systems and pipelines is integrated, accessible and adherent to data governance and management principles.
- Provides leadership and enforces standards for data modeling and data structures across the NLHS data platform, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Oversees implementation of secure access and use protocols that enable internal and external users to access provincial datasets.
- Responsible for business ownership and operation of overall data platform across multiple components including environments for data storage, access and use, as well as analytical, business intelligence and data management tools.
- Supports NLHS? provincial data strategy, digital health integration, and system transformation goals.
- Promotes automation, artificial intelligence, and real-time analytics adoption in collaboration with clinical and IT leaders.
- Manage the design and integration of new data feeds from core enterprise systems to enable seamless data flow and reliable reporting across the organization.
- Design and maintain data infrastructure to support AI-driven solutions, including machine learning and predictive analytics.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure data pipelines and platforms are optimized for AI workloads.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and integrate them into the data ecosystem were appropriate.
- Lead the implementation of the enterprise data platform strategy which includes designing scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions to support advanced analytics and business intelligence.
- Work with the other Directors in the Department to develop a provincial vision and data governance framework that enables evidence-informed decision-making, promotes interoperability, and strengthens organizational performance through quality health information.
- Work with the other Directors to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and secure data and information across programs, zones, and digital systems.
- Participating in the strategic planning and establishing strategic goals and objectives for the department
- Leading and overseeing personnel within the division
- Overseeing budget planning and financial management of the Division
- Maintaining communication and strong working relationships and facilitates knowledge transfer opportunities with key health system stakeholders
This is a new position within Provincial, Data and Information Services. As the position evolves and develops the responsibilities of the role may also change and grow.

About You
Your education and experience include:
- Bachelor?s or master?s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible work experience, including managerial experience, in a data architecture and/or data platform management role.
- Demonstrated experience in: data strategy, modeling, warehousing, and integration technologies; strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced analytics platforms
- An interest in continuous learning and upskilling, particularly related to artificial intelligence.
