Calling all 1st and 2nd year medical students!

Our Summer Observership Program gives medical students the chance to:

  • Shadow real physicians across a variety of clinical settings
  • Learn how patient care works beyond the classroom
  • Explore different medical career paths before you have to make any big decisions
  • Build connections with physicians, teams, and future colleagues, while introducing you to Horizon's culture, values, and opportunities

Remuneration

This observership is a paid opportunity, offering medical students the chance to gain meaningful clinical exposure while being financially supported throughout their placement.

What you will do

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe physicians in clinical environments across a range of specialties
  • Gain exposure to hospital workflows, patient interactions, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Learn about training, residency opportunities, and future career pathways within Horizon
  • Build early professional connections with physicians, staff, and learners

This is an observational program only; hands?on clinical activities are not permitted.

Who you are

  • Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate medical program (MD) and currently in your 1st or 2nd year of study.
  • Able to participate in an observership for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to a maximum of 10 weeks.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, a strong interest in clinical medicine, and a willingness to learn.
  • Meets Horizon's pre?observership requirements, including completion of all required policy acknowledgments.

Please note: Priority will be given to 1st and 2nd year students from New Brunswick - including New Brunswick residents students studying outside the province.

  • A current CV
  • A brief statement of interest including:
    • Zones of interest (Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Miramichi)
    • Dates available for observerships
    • Top 3 areas of specialty to observe (i.e. family medicine, emergency, endocrinology, surgery, etc.)

Apply early — placements are limited and assigned on a first?come, first?served basis in consultation with supervising physicians.
