What is the opportunity?
A key IT role within Wealth Management Technology & Solutions, Data Management and Integration team, you will be a Senior Application Specialist that will act as an SME for Wealth Management Data applications and provide leadership covering a range of maintenance initiatives, production support processes, data governance, audit and compliance requirements. You will work in collaboration with IT and Business Partners to support business insights and strategy, ensuring Applications stability and growth.
What will you do?
- Work closely with business clients to understand priorities and impact and provides timely and accurate reports to management and end-users on status of critical systems processes.
- Proactively identifies and acts on emerging issues (and works with Development teams) to resolve them in the short and long term. Many of these issues require rapid response and the ability to synthesize multiple technical factors quickly in order to arrive at a workaround or solution within hours.
- Make recommendations on process improvements and enhances system and support documentation.
- Ensure compliance with SLA metrics as agreed with business.
- Lead support-based initiatives of various complexity.
- Actively participate in Agile development projects to represent the interests of maintaining Production application stability and adhering to Production readiness standards. Your participation would ensure that projects follow RBC standards for security and audit, supporting System Integration testing, and supporting code promotions and development effort.
- Work on IT Risk deliverables: participate in DR exercise, help in DR planning and design; interacting with various auditors and make sure that applications function according to published RBC IT Risk Standards.
- Lead a small team of individuals. Interested in growing and eventually following a management career path.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- Strong business domain understanding of Wealth-Management, excellent data analysis and solid background dealing with Wealth Management applications.
- Ability to work independently, apply critical and strategic thinking to issues, and manage deadlines while multi-tasking amongst different priorities.
- Experience with custodianship of multiple applications including management of Enterprise requirements.
- Relational databases: an intermediate knowledge of relational database concepts and how to interact with databases using SQL is required.
- Superior relationship building, communication & presentation skills, organizational knowledge and leadership skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and complex environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Understanding of Trade Life Cycle and working experience with Front, Middle and Back office teams of Asset Management, Wealth Management, Portfolio Management, Brokerage Institutions, Prime Brokerage Services of various asset class such as Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives, Money Market Instrument and OTC Derivatives
