The team is responsible for overall customer support and management of long-term energy marketing activities within NB Power's wholly owned, unregulated subsidiary, New Brunswick Energy Marketing Corporation ("NBEM"). As such, the team's responsibilities include product development and structuring, marketing strategies, business development, portfolio integrity, financial and operational risk management, and customer satisfaction.
As part of the Origination Team within NBEM, the Origination Specialist is responsible for the conceptual development of market opportunities, promoting concepts internally and externally, identifying operational and financial requirements and risks, and ensuring settlement and reporting functions are accurate. The incumbent will also frequently interact with customers for negotiation/administration of contracts and general partner engagement.
Key functions include:
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and partners by identifying their needs, aligning opportunities accordingly, and clearly communicating market concepts and product offerings.
- Support the development, structuring, and negotiation of energy-related contracts by coordinating with Legal, Risk, Finance, and Operations groups to ensure alignment with NB Power's objectives, and by assisting in contract administration, execution, and ongoing compliance.
- Monitor changes in energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and market rules within neighbouring jurisdictions, and assess their impact on potential market opportunities, and support internal teams by providing timely and relevant policy insights.
- Liaise with NB Power's business development team to ensure strategic alignment between NBEM and NB Power.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelor of Science Degree OR;
- Bachelor of Business Degree
Combined with
- Seven years post qualification experience with at least five of those years in the consulting, energy or utility sector
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products
- Experience supporting commercial analysis or business case development.
- Ability to communicate technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
